POSITION SUMMARY
At an exciting stage in our development, we are looking for an
Education Coordinator to join our Communication Team to provide
comprehensive support to our Community Manager. This role will be
responsible for delivering current school programmes (GROW at School &
Community Classrooms) as well as the continuous development of GIY?s
school resources.
GROW at School, the GIY primary schools programme, aims to be the gold
standard in food literacy, helping children to connect with nature,
with their own health, and the health of the planet. The programme
provides physical materials, complemented by an educational packet for
teachers and students. The programme has been trialled in **Apply on
the website** primary schools over the last three years and is
preparing to scale up based on insights gained from the pilot phase.
Community Classrooms is an ongoing programme aiming to establish,
support and fund a network of **Apply on the website** community
gardens around Ireland before **Apply on the website**. These
community gardens directly engage with primary schools and provide
outdoor, living classrooms for pupils, staff and community members.
SPECIFIC PURPOSE CONTRACT
This role is funded through a philanthropic partnership; therefore, we
are offing a 3-year Specific Purpose Contract. This funding is subject
to yearly funder reviews, but there is potential for a permanent role
once the Specific Purpose Contract has ended.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CO-ORDINATE THE DELIVERY OF GIY SCHOOL PROGRAMMES:
* Managing the recruitment & onboarding of schools
* Coordinating operational needs such as distribution of kits
* Creating newsletters and other educational resources
* Serving as the schools? point of contact.
* Supporting (and leading where applicable) the design, collection
and analysis of feedback and impact data, ranging from surveys to
focus groups and one-to-one interviews.
* Work with strategic leads in the reviewing and reporting of GIY
School Programmes.
SCHOOL RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT:
* Reviewing current GIY school resources and making edits and
additions where applicable.
* Coordinating (or creating where applicable) the development of
curriculum-supporting resources for all GIY School Programmes.
* Developing and sustaining partnerships with schools and agencies
to aid in resource development, testing and continuous improvement.
TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME:
* Coordinating the development of GIY?s online Teacher Training
Programme, including project planning, production of materials, review
and refinement.
* Coordinating the delivery of GIY?s online Teacher Training
Programme, including recruitment, teacher support, review and
reporting.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for an exceptional, experienced individual who shares
GIY?s culture, vision and values. The ideal candidate would have
experience in project management or experience in the Irish education
system.
* Two years? experience in project management.
* A relevant qualification/degree or equivalent work experience
(Teacher Education Degree, PME) is preferred but not essential
* Impeccable attention to detail and organisation skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* A flexible, positive, energetic, resourceful person who has the
maturity and confidence to succeed in a busy environment and as part
of a dynamic team.
